Adventures in Podcasting
This summer I went to Podcast Movement in Fort Worth, Texas, -a conference focused on . . . you guessed it, podcasting!
Many attendees were part of what’s been called the Third Wave of Podcasting which started in 2014. When I told people that we’ve been doing this show since 2010 their eyes widened. Apparently, our show is mature in podcasting years.
There were also first wavers there who’ve been podcasting since 2005 (before iTunes). It takes a lot of work to keep a show going that long. Respect!
Speaking of work, producing one episode of the MTA podcast takes about ten hours. Angie researches and writes the content, I add in the intro, sponsorships, and quick tip, then we sit down to record while the kids are sequestered in their rooms. I edit the recording until everything sounds magical.
We usually record in our little office space set up in the corner of the family room. Since we travelled so much this year we’ve podcasted from wherever we happened to be whether it was a cabin in Colorado, my brother-in-law’s office in Pennsylvania, or my parent’s motorhome in Washington State since it was quieter out there than in the house. Next year we hope to record an episode from Germany since we’ll be there to run the Berlin Marathon.
Thanks for being a loyal listener! We hope these shows empower you on your running journey.
