In this episode we interview Dick Beardsley–2:08 marathoner, running ambassador, and motivational speaker.
His neck-and-neck race against Alberto Salazar at the 1982 Boston Marathon is famously known as the “Duel in the Sun” and lives on as Boston Marathon lore.
In 1989 Dick suffered severe injuries from a farming accident that badly mangled his body and later led to an addiction to pain killers. He also lost his 31 year old son, an Iraq War veteran, to suicide in 2015. Through all the hardships Dick has persevered and is a true example of the power of redemption and hope.
