Injury free for first marathon

Congrats to our client Soumyadeep on finishing his first marathon in 4:12! He writes,

“After 6 years of running half marathons, 10Ks, and 5Ks regularly and swearing for even longer that I would never run a marathon, I finally ran one. NYC was amazing, with all the color, the energy, and the crowd noise–making us feel like real sporting superheroes.

My main for my first marathon was to finish without getting injured and I am glad to report that I was able to do just that.

Running faster than 4:15

With a finish time a shade below 4:12, I was also able to achieve my B goal of running faster than 4:15. While I did not get my most ambitious goal of finishing sub-4, I cannot complain too much, especially because I learned so much about doing hard things physically and digging deep both mentally and physically during the race.

I would like to give a big shout out to Coach Carri, who shepherded me through crazy travel and work schedules, occasional bouts of sickness, multiple buildup races, and even a sudden loss of motivation/energy during my peak buildup phase. Without her, there is no way I would have shown up at the start line, let alone be thinking about when to sign up for my second marathon. I am so glad that I signed up for MTA coaching when I did!

Also, big thanks to both of you and the community you’ve all created. The information from the podcasts and the encouragement from the MTA group has made this process so much more enjoyable and I look forward to more of the same in the years to come.”

Thanks,

Deep
