I am a Jeff Galloway Program Director in Savannah, Georgia. This method has helped so many get across the finish line!
Hi Jackie, That’s fantastic!! I’m sure it’s so inspiring to hear people’s success stories with the Galloway Method. Keep up the great work!
Hi there!. I have been a listener for over 10 years and appreciate what you do for the running community.
I am catching up on some old, unheard episodes and came through this one.
I would like to offer a suggestion, if I may. Waterstops are slippery and dangerous, especially when you are in the middle or the back of the pack. When you reach one, you are usually identifying the cup of water you are about to pick up, making eye contact with the volunteer that will hand it to you or locating the safest place within the commotion to snatch up what you need. People suddenly stopping or even breaking into an unexpected walk on the water stop, even if they signal it, it is dangerous and It cause slips and accidents. I am sure we’ve all have witnessed them.
In my experience, the safest way to take a break at a water stop is to pick up your needs, get past the water stop and its ruckus, go to the side of the road, and then take all the time you need before getting started again.
It is great that running and racing have become more popular than ever. But with so many inexperienced runners out there, it is important to guide them so they are aware that water stops may be the most dangerous places in a racecourse. Thus, my suggestion.
Thank you for your contributions to the running community.
