In this episode we talk with Samantha Gash an ultra marathoner from Australia who became the first female and youngest person to complete Racing the Planet’s Four Deserts Grand Slam in one calendar year.
This race series included the following 250km ultra-marathons:
Atacama (Chile) the driest desert
Gobi (China) the windiest desert
Sahara (Egypt) the hottest desert
Antarctica the coldest desert
Samantha considers herself to be an ordinary runner who decided to attempt something extraordinary.
Take some inspiration from her story, dream big, go out and be awesome!
Desert Runners
This documentary follows Samantha and three other non-professional runners attempting to complete the grand slam in one calendar year. They each come to the desert for different reasons and they each have their share of ups and downs.
*As Paul Harvey used to say, “here’s the rest of the story”.
This episode inspired MTA Member Ryan Deguzis to train for the Atacama Desert Crossing. You can hear our interview with Ryan here.
